One of my long-standing internet fixations is the weekly Invisibles quiz on filmwise.com. The fun-for-movie-nerds site started back in 1999 and while they provide many different types of quizzes and contests, the Invisibles are where they shine.
It’s a simple concept, really. Every Monday, a new quiz consisting of screen shots from eight (usually well-known) movies are displayed and a field is provided for you to type in your guess of what movie the screen shot is from. There’s a twist, however: all body parts of the actors in the shot are erased. You have to rely on your knowledge of the costumes and scenery, not the people, in the movie in order to guess correctly. What’s really maddening is that you have to wait until the next Monday to find out the correct answers. I started taking the quizzes every week back in 2002 and they’ve since been a consistent bright spot in my Monday mornings.
Quiz fiends are able to go back a number of months and take old quizzes, which is good because I think you’ll find that you’ll get hooked on these right away. If you’re stuck and interested in collaborating, head over to the movie forum on MamaPopTalk.
