Fashion legend Alexander McQueen was found dead in his London home dead of an apparent suicide. He was 40 years old.
The cause of death is reportedly hanging, and occurs days after McQueen's own mother passed away.
McQueen rose fairly recently from obscurity to international renown. He has been sighted as the number one influence for Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, who got his start working for McQueen and Vivienne Westwood. McQueen has also been a big inspiration for MamaPop patron saint Lady Gaga:
The writers of MamaPop have poked fun at McQueen's outlandish "hoof shoes", but there is no denying that he was a talented designer with a unique point of view, and his absence from the fashion world is an incredible loss. There is no news what will become of McQueen's fashion house, as the company has offered no comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.
