Last week I tried to convince you to watch Party Down and about an hour after I did so, the show got canceled. You know what this means? Much like Nancy Botwin, everything I touch turns to shit. Ask my husband. Since then, I’ve been inconsolable. Luckily, Party Down star Adam Scott took pity on me and tweeted something that made me feel the tiniest bit better about the cancellation: a spoof Vanity Fair photo of the cast.
If an intentionally-cheesy, purposefully-badly-Photoshopped image isn’t two middle fingers in the air to an industry that continually lauds and rewards base drivel like Two and Half Men and discards truly funny and smart gems like Party Down (and Freaks and Geeks, and Arrested Development, need I go on?), I don’t know what is.
So Adam Scott, I salute you. Not just for your outstanding work on Party Down and your sure-to-be stellar run on the excellent Parks and Recreation, but for bringing this “fuck you” photo to the Twitters for fans to embrace. Are we having fun yet?
. . . . .
Kelli still hasn’t gotten over the premature cancellations of My So-Called Life, Carnivale, Deadwood, Arrested Development, and Freaks and Geeks.
