Sparklecorn 2010: We Done Blowed NYC Up, Son

screen capture 1 300x203 Sparklecorn 2010: We Done Blowed NYC Up, SonI didn’t think we could top last year’s party. I didn’t.

But I think we did.

Sparklecorn 2010 was bigger. Bolder. Badassier. Other awesome things that start with the letter “B.”

Quoth Omar from The Wire: “Oh, indeed.”

To those of you who were there Saturday night in NYC: thanks for kicking ass and shakin’ that ass — the spirit of fun and real, unrestrained joy you each brought to the party is totally what made it rock. YOU made it rock. Thank you, all of you.

To those of you who weren’t there: BlogHer11 in San Diego, anyone?

Which reminds me: huge, weepy thanks to everyone at BlogHer (but especially Lori Luna, hand-holder extraordinaire) for their time and help, for getting us kick-ass sponsors, and for putting up with my insane, micro-managey perfectionism (I’m really a nice person! Just VERY VERY opinionated, is all! TRUE FAX!).

And big, blowing-up-fistbumps to Charm City Cakes for The Unicorn Cake To End All Unicorn Cakes. Lawd, THAT will be a tough one to top. You guys wanna drive something out to Cali next year for us? Pretty, pretty please [bats eyelashes]?

MamaPop’s Photographer In Chief, the great Mister Ryan Marshall, took scads of photos and a ton of great video that night for us, and though processing those things takes time, we wanted to give you a little something right quick to remember the night by. So, without further ado:

One of the best nights of my life right there. Thanks, everybody.

Holy shit, that song was made for Sparklecorn. It’s seriously freaky. Also freaky? How talented Ryan is. Crazy. I just want to rewind- I don’t think I can wait a whole year to do this all again.

I hate to sound cheesy (‘cuz I know the BS meters are tough around these parts.), but this party sorta redeemed the whole conference for me. I enjoyed my first BlogHer and have no complaints, but Sparkelcorn brought the blow your mind fun and insanity that I was expecting the entire time. I shoulda known that you MamaPop folks would bring it on home!
    Thank you, thank you!

Had an awesome time tearing up the dance floor at Sparklecorn with Bookieboo, Jenny on the spot and so many others.

Only wish I had taken a break to meet all of you. What was I thinking? Needed the release I guess.

    So stupid sometimes!

  • http://www.annsrants.com Ann’s Rants

Tearing up because that was the most fun I have had in SO LONG.

So anyone who compares BlogHer to High School?

HELL YES! The DJ was off the hook and gave me the soundtrack to my own personal John Hughes movie for 2 hours.

Thank you thank you thank you Mamapopians!

Sparklecorn rocked my entire face clean off.

  • http://www.lauriewrites.com Laurie

    Full on.

I have never been to a party where people were on the dance floor as soon as the doors opened, no lagging.

This was an awesome night from start to finish, and I’m so happy everyone had so much fun.

“Double Rainbow” has swift kicked Dionne Warwick in the ass, and has replaced “That’s What Friends are For” as the best fucking badass friendlovepuppiesunicorn song EVER.

San Diego, kittens. SANDY FUCKING AY-GO.

    So rad…….that is all!

Seriously, the BlogHer gala planners could take a page out of the Sparklecorn trapper keeper, because I have not had that much fun in YEARS.

  • http://www.musingsfromme.com MusingsfromMe/Jill

I heard so many stories about the Sparklecorn parties. I was determined to go to Blogher and get myself a ticket to the party. The party was amazing. I haven’t danced that much since the 80s. It was fitting that the music was 80s focused. The cake was fantastic.

At one point I felt like a tween at a middle school dance as I texted my own tween a photo of the unicorn cake while I danced on the dance floor. Can you say odd?? My tween was at a sleepover at a friend’s house. The kids at the sleepover wanted to know if Duff was there or if he delivered the cake.

Amazing night of dancing and feeling like a 20-something again. Do you want to know what’s funny? I danced for hours but have no aches or pains. I had a natural high!

  • http://majorbedhead.wordpress.com Major Bedhead

The party seriously kicked ass. I have not had that much fun in years. I laughed so much that my face hurt the next day. I danced so much that my feet rebelled and blistered and bled, but I just kicked off my shoes and kept on dancing. I left that party on such a high that’s still going even today. And it’s Tuesday. And I’m at work. So that? Was one fucking awesome party.

The only thing high school about it is me; I’m, like, totally making all my friends jealous because I got one of those bitchin’ t-shirts.

  • Nine Eleven

I’m glad you had a nice time. I’m not sure joking about blowing up New York is in the best taste though. Maybe you could find a different way to say you threw a good party?

When I woke up on Sunday I couldn’t feel the third and fourth toes on each of my feet I danced so hard all night. And as I wiggled them, trying to regain sensation, I thought to myself: SO TOTALLY WORTH IT.

That was the best party I’ve been to ever. Music: AWESOME. People: AWESOME. CAKE: UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLEAWESOME.

    MamaPop Sparklecorn forever!!!!!!!!!!

  • Suzy Q

This party looked like it kicked some awesome ass! Sorry to have missed it.

  • http://www.lateenough.com Alex@LateEnough

    Your DJ? Phenomenal.

Best party at BlogHer. And not just because I’m in the video. I said that BEFORE the video came out. Just not here. Because HERE didn’t exist. Yet. Without the video.

This makes so much sense in my head.

  • http://cassjustcurious.com Cass

Thank you for throwing one hell of a party – there are nights that will go down in dancing history in my life and that was for sure one of them.

OMG you guys. San Diego better happen for me. My heart is bursting with all the love y’alls have. MamaPop: it’s a beautiful mothereffin’ thang. xoxo

  • http://www.alotofloves.com Marilyn

I’d also like to say that hearing Double Rainbow again has given me another ear worm that is surely to last a week. My kids have been singing it all day along with me. It’s the perfect Sparklecorn song. We should have played it.
