Jennifer Jason Leigh Files for Divorce from Noah Baumbach

It always bums me out when celebrities I actually like, get divorced. So consider me bummed over the recent news that Jennifer Jason Leigh and Noah Baumbach’s marriage appears to be coming to an end.

Jennifer Jason Leigh filed for divorce earlier this month, citing the seemingly catch all reason, ‘irreconcilable differences’. Does anyone else think of that Drew Barrymore, Ryan O’Neal, and Shelley Long movie each time they here the phrase ‘irreconcilable differences’? No, just me? I guess I really was the only one who saw that movie back in ’84.

Anyway. Leigh is one of those actors who isn’t afraid to be real on the screen and in my humble opinion, is one of the best actresses out there. Of course she will always be totally associated in my head with Fast Times At Ridgemont High and Single White Female, but Rush and Childstar prove that woman has range. Her soon to be ex- huband Baumbach has directed some really great movies of recent years — The Squid and the Whale and Margot at the Wedding — plus he’s written a few of my favorites, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Obviously they made one super-talented couple and I can only imagine that their eight-month old son, Rohmer Emmanuel, is probably already way cooler than me — and he poops his pants on a regular basis.

It makes me sad that they are divorcing but I’m sure someone had their reasons, let’s just hope they put Rohmer first and they strike me as the kind that will. This year seems like a heavy year for divorce in celebrity land or maybe there were just so many bombshell splits, it’s hard to tell. But I can’t be the only one who was surprised by David Arquette & Courteney Cox-Arquette and Christina Aguilera & Jordan Bratman divorces.

So far the only other details about the divorce filing are that Leigh is seeking primary custody with visitations for Baumbach in addition to spousal support.

I also think of the movie every time I hear that phrase. You’re not the only one.

Thank you! I’ve often wondered if there was anyone else out there that thought the same thing.

        I think of that, too!

In California you are given two choices for grounds for divorce: irreconcilable differences or incurable insanity. That’s why just about every celebrity divorce cites the former. It means essentially nothing.

Seriously? Wow. I get why it’s the catch all now. Who wants to claim incurable insanity? Not this gal. Thanks April.

I knew this. Which is why I’ll never marry in California.
