I have always loved Amanda Palmer’s music, but it’s her completely wicked sense of humor that really slays me. Now that she’s marrying Neil Gaiman, the two genius, if not completely cracked minds have come up with something…really special. And by “special” I am of course referring to a reenactment of Jim Henson’s Labyrinth as performed by Amanda, Neil and some sock puppets.
The genius is in the details, is it not? I mean the mullet wig on Gaiman is worth it’s weight in gold, for realsies. And I cannot stop laughing at the guy with the eyeball glove’s deadpan look right into the camera as he gets caught onscreen.
Seriously, how much money would you pay to be in that meeting (I like to think of it as being in bed) and having Neil Gaiman roll over and say in that delicious English lilt “I think we should do a parody of a Jim Henson movie, and you’ll star, and I’ll be David Bowie, and you’ll die at the end from running full force into a wall”. How fast would YOU say yes? And if you loved Labyrinth (and who of us didn’t, am I right?) this was a special little gift to the Amanda fans from her royal badassness. Well played, Ms. Palmer and Mr. Gaiman. Well played indeed.
