Kelly Cutrone, founder of PR firm People’s Revolution, star of Bravo reality series Kell on Earth, and all around bad motherfucker is launching a sportswear label. Cutrone is partnering up with People’s Revolution’s Robyn Berkley and entrepreneur Chris Burch to create The Electric Love Army, which I keep reading as The Electric Company and now this keeps going through my head:
Argh.
Cutrone says that the line will be “affordable and fun,” and will make liberal use of pop culture references to appeal to the 15-to-32-year-old brainy and sexy woman demographic. That’s oddly specific but makes me think that she wants MamaPop writers and readers to buy her stuff. I will gladly do so if the pop culture references include some of Cutrone’s best quotes, such as:
“If you have to cry, go outside.”
“I just feel like straight guys don’t wanna come to me for advice. They’re usually like, UGH.”
“If you’re sensitive and somebody hurts your feelings, I don’t give a fuck.”
“We’re all hookers in one way or another.”
“You know where nice people end up? On welfare.”
“I don’t need to defend my company against a girl who wears pink!”
Cutrone also explains her target demographic as, “You know that scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High where Phoebe Cates climbs out of the swimming pool and pops her bikini ? That’s our girl.” Alright, cool. But I don’t have to stumble upon Judge Reinhold rubbing one out in the bathroom, do I?
