In an interview with Star Magazine, investigative journalist Ian Halperin, who spent a year investigating Gaga for his tell-all book, reveals some alarming details of Lady Gaga behind the scenes and insists she is a “walking time bomb.” According to Halperin, her artistic and odd style isn’t solely defined by her artistic side as a performer, but partly because her lupus has gotten so bad her hair is falling out. Apparently she relies on heavy makeup and her costumes to cover the red blotches and thinning hair to cover up her sickness. Both are symptoms of lupus. To make matters worse, Halperin divulges that she is obsessed with her weight, saying:
“Those who have worked with her on tour reported to me that Gaga barely ate for weeks at a time to fit into her costume. She is sick and obsessed with her weight. One friend told me, Gaga will stare at herself in the mirror for hours on end, analyzing and critiquing her body. It’s an unhealthy obsession.”
Halperin further reveals that Gaga has other issues besides her sickness and weight obsession.
”Her drug use started young. From heroin to cocaine and ecstasy, her friends say that she has done every drug conceivable. You name it she has done it. She’s morphed into this caricature called Lady Gaga, who isn’t even a real person. The girl known as Stefi to her friends and family has all but disappeared.”
Halperin has written tell-all books on a number of celebrities, and if this is true, I am a Sad Panda. She’s a brilliant artist, but if she is suffering all these issues and is surrounded by sycophants, she may very well destroy her career.
