The divorces! The celebrity divorces are everywhere! After six years of marriage, Demi Moore announced this afternoon that she has filed for divorce from Ashton Kutcher.

Demi, in an official statement to the AP, said:

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.” 

Taking to his Twitter account, Ashton Kutcher tweeted:

Ashton Kutcher livetweets his divorce. As one does.

“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK”

There has not been an official reason given yet for the couple’s split, but there has been much speculation regarding the possibility of Ashton being unfaithful in recent months.

    No surprise there.

    As much as I want to, I can’t really snark. Divorce is hard. It sucks. Regardless of the reasons or circumstances, I feel for anyone who has to go through it. Period, end of story.

      I know! It’s always sad, no matter who it is. I did have to bite my tongue a bit with the whole ANNOUNCING YOUR DIVORCE TO THE AP vs. Asking for “privacy” bit. :/

    What I find surprising is that they were only married for six years. Seemed more like 16 to me. But, that would have made him about 12 when they got together, so…
