angry birds dress 560x875 On Trend: Technology Inspired Fashion

Your eyes are not deceiving you.  The woman above is wearing an Angry Birds dress.  And honestly?  It isn’t that bad.  It really isn’t my jam–I am more of a belted and blinged black dress kind of gal–but I find it fairly whimsical and this woman is managing to somehow pull it off without looking completely ridiculous.  I think?  To be honest, my brain feels a little scrambled about this; I would never wear such a thing, but I would expect it to be so much worse and it isn’t.  Cats and dogs living together! Nothing makes sense anymore to me.  Either way, I give my props to any woman who can work an iPhone app into her gown for a party at the Presidential Palace in Finland.

The Angry Birds couture got me thinking about fashion that pays an homage to technology.  With technology playing such an integral part of our lives, it is easy to see how one would want to boast about their digital loves on their person.

These Twitter necklaces are cute in a retro, name plate kind of way.  I can’t help but think of Carrie Bradshaw when I look at them.  Though, I got to be honest; they seem kind of young.  Are these meant for adults or the teen set?  (The only time I think it would be acceptable for an adult to wear this is at a blogging/twitter conference; then all nerdy bets are off.)

fail whale onesie On Trend: Technology Inspired FashionThis fail whale onesie is cute, no doubt.  It certainly would be the impetus of many conversations…but isn’t it kind of calling your baby an “Epic Fail”?  Perhaps I am being too literal, but I am not completely feeling this one.

I am trying to think how I would feel about a man wearing these Apple cufflinks.  They admittedly look pretty sleek, but I didn’t quite catch the nerd love that is en vogue right now.  But who knows?  Maybe these peeking out of a nice french cuff could change my mind.

And finally these geek/internet themed panties.  I think I know what I am getting the members of my MamaPop and Moxie Bird family this year for Secret Santa.

What do you think? Would you wear any of this?  Do you want to let your geek flag fly or is this too far?

I was just smirking down the list until I got to the undies. That is AWESOME.
I’m already at thinkgeek and contemplating how many I should order…

I would totally rock a twitter necklace but the dress… i’ll pass.

the coolest part about the dress is that it’s worn by the wife of the uber rich guy from rovio who owns angry birds. she’s taking that dress all the way to the bank.

The only thing I don’t like about the dress is the placement of the pupil of the bird’s eye.

I would totally wear one of those twitter handle necklaces (though i’d rather do a hashtag) and I actually am friends on twitter with @pluckypea, whose company, @thehippest, makes them.  Maybe they’re a bit young, but I wear my hair in pigtails when I’m too lazy to wash it and I have a hole in the ass of my jeans right now, so I’m not really the person to come to for age-appropriate advice on fashion.

Yeah, I didn’t get it at first and totally just saw a weird boob with black nipple type deal.

I’d like the Angry Birds dress more if she seemed pleased with it.  I expect the photo just caught her at a solemn moment, but she looks kinda stern to be wearing it.

I kinda want a pair of warranty panties.

I totally want one of those necklaces.

That dress, however, has got to go. Is it Bjork’s mom or something?

I know several people who have Apple cufflinks, actually. I roll with a hyper-techy-and-hyper-hipster crowd sometimes. They look really chic, actually, and are subtle unless you’re looking for it.
