P!nk Helps Abandoned Puppy Get Life-Saving Surgery

P!nk played Santa for one abandoned puppy this season, swooping down to pay $5,000 for its life-saving surgery.

Get off it...you know you like her.

When she came across an online news story about a puppy that had been tossed into a river and left for dead, the singer called a Los Angeles animal rescue and ponied (doggied?) up the money required for its emergency treatment.

The dog has recovered and is in the process of being adopted to a good home.

Let me count the ways I love this story:

  1. PUPPYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
  2. It probably makes me hopelessly unhip but I really like P!nk.  Saw her live once—thinking I’d hate it but having cheap tickets—and it blew my hair back.
  3. Plus, I like people with symbols in their names.  From this point on, you shall call me M@lly.
  4. Again:  PUPPYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
  5. In reading this report on TMZ you realize that the pup is already back on its four feet.  Which means this didn’t *just* happen.  Which means that P!nk’s reps did not do a four-wall PR campaign to promote the star’s good deed.  Sure they probably figure news would trickle out…but in this day of mega marketing blitzes, I’ll take it.

When people who’ve been given pretty amazing lives remember that they need to do pretty amazing things…well, as P!nk might say, it’s effing perfect.

I love Pink and I don’t even care if it’s not cool.  I do, however, spell her name with an i instead of an exclamation point because I don’t know how to pronounce !.

Pink is still one of my favourite musical artists, by far. This is so warm and fuzzy it is ridiculous- good for her!

If loving Pink is wrong, I don’t want to be right. Her music isn’t 100% up my alley, but I like her so much as a person and think her lyrics are so empowering, I end up kind of loving her songs. I think she’s such an incredible role model for girls. Also? I have watched the Funhouse tour three times and I am blown away by her every time and both of her more acrobatic performances—”Sober” and “Glitter in the Air”—are so beautiful they make me uncontrollably weep the whole way through, every time.

Enjoy her music, but admire her as the person she seems to be, too. I loved how after her daughter was born she was photographed several times looking completely post-partum instead of impossibly thin & toned. She didn’t make a big thing about it, either – she just wanted to take her daughter to the beach so she did, poochy belly and all.

I wish I had enough money to do things like this. Lucky puppy.

I love Pink and am not ashamed to say it. I had no idea she used a ! in her name, though.

Love her.  LOVE. HER.  She is the perfect role model, IMO.  Outspoken, passionate about that which she believes in, open about her past and her mistakes, not dependent on being hawt to be successful, writes her own words instead of singing someone else’s (and bases them on her own experiences), SO MANY THINGS.  My kids love her, too.  “Effing Perfect” and “Stupid Girl” are anthems to which I will raise my kids.

Follow her and her husband on Twitter, if you’re there.  Their tweets are both hysterical and precious.
