In the chaos of the holiday season, Katy Perry and Russell Brand announced their split. Though this is a common approach by celebs–breaking big news during a weekend or a holiday with hopes that it will deflect media attention–the world is abuzz with the news of their separation.
And, of course, everyone has a theory on what drove them to divorce. The major contenders:
- Procreating: Katy was not ready to slow down her career; Russell, 9 years her senior, was ready to make some Baby Brands.
- Partying: Katy loved it; recovering addict Russell preferred to avoid the scene.
- Religion: Katy comes from a devoutly Christian upbringing; Russell…not so much.
It seems Katy may be getting the lion’s share of the blame here. As they seem to be doing their best to not slander each other (Russell went as far to say that he “adores” her), we may never know. Therefore, I’m just going to continue to stick to my own theory about this split: Russell is finally ready to start his life with me.
