The Reopened Natalie Wood Investigation Hasn’t Found Anything

natalie wood The Reopened Natalie Wood Investigation Hasnt Found Anything

Two months ago, police reopened their investigation into Natalie Wood’s 1981 drowning death after a “bombshell” revelation from the boat’s captain. He claimed her husband, Robert Wagner, was responsible and even admitted to lying to investigators about things he saw and heard the night she died.

Two months later, police are like, “Yeah…we got nothing.”

The investigation is still open, technically, but investigators haven’t turned up one iota of new, solid evidence that suggests Natalie’s death was anything other than a tragic accident.

So on the one hand, the circumstances surrounding that accident are…murky, TO PUT IT SUPER MILDLY. Natalie, who had a well-established phobia of water, is out drinking and popping pills and fighting with her husband on a boat in the middle of the night without a life vest and possibly attempting to climb into a small raft in her nightgown AND ALSO CHRISTOPHER WALKEN, who just…you know. Makes everything even more weird, just on principle.

HELLO HOW ARE YOU I'M FINE WOULD YOU LIKE SOME PIE?

On the other hand, we have a boat captain who has admitted to lying about that night in the past already, and who wrote a book about it three years ago that featured the “new” story — about fights and smashed bottles and thumping sounds AND ALSO CHRISTOPHER WALKEN — and who finally managed to get some Big Publicity and interviews about it.

So: Are the cops saying they’ve turned up nothing and are sticking with the accident story because they’ve discredited the captain’s account…or trying to lull possibly guilty parties into a false sense of security that they’re getting away with it again in hopes that they’ll suddenly say something stupid like murder suspects ALWAYS DO in EVERY POLICE SHOW EVER, usually right around the 50-minute mark?

And seriously. Christopher Walken. I really wish we could hear his version of events already. Perhaps while cooking some chicken.

Yeah, I think she was just drunk, as they all were, fell and hit her head then drowned. But…CHRISTOPHER WALKEN.
