Lindsay Lohan To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ On March 3rd

Lindsay Lohan1 600x450 Lindsay Lohan To Host Saturday Night Live On March 3rdLindsay Lohan will be rejoining the world of working stiffs, at least for a week or so, when she hosts Saturday Night Live on March 3rd. SNL announced Lohan’s upcoming appearance in an on-air promo this past weekend. Lohan graciously confirmed the appearance when she tweeted, “SNL! I love @NBC !!!!!!!!!!!!!” on Saturday night. Judging from the thirteen exclamation points, I would guess that Lohan is pretty excited.

Lohan has not had an official acting gig since 2010′s cult grindhouse movie Machete. Her most recent gig has been posing nude for Playboy in a spread reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe’s legendary cover shot from 1953. Monroe’s life had many parallels to Lohan’s: troubled childhood, Hollywood success early in life, lost in the world, substance abuse. Lohan has a longstanding fascination with Monroe and hopefully was self-aware enough to pose for the pictures as a statement to all who consumed them.

Lohan, of course, has rarely been in the media for any good reason and it seems like her legal woes long ago overshadowed her professional achievements. As recently as November 2011, she was being sentenced to jail time and community service for infractions like failing sobriety tests while on house arrest and shoplifting.

With her tarnished reputation and spotty (at best) performances, it has seemed like Lohan’s main export will be notoriety for the foreseeable future. But for all of her missteps, Lohan was always the best person to poke fun at herself. No one could mock her antics better than Lohan herself, especially when she broke up with girlfriend Samantha Ronson.

The Funny or Die video reminded us that Lohan is terrific comedic actress when she has her act together enough to perform. She is, after all, one of the main players in one of the funniest SNL skits in the past 10 years.

The way I see it, both Lohan and SNL need to get back to business. Perhaps the built-in material that Lohan brings to the table will be the springboard that SNL needs.

I immediately thought about that Debbie Downer skit, too. Oh! And the Kaitlyn skit she did with RICK! RICK! RICK!

Interested to see what happens this week.

I am a faithful SNL viewer and I’m not excited about her hosting at all.

You should be because she might do some publicity stunt there. :P

I hope she gets it together and takes advantage of this chance.  If not, let’s please move on and give someone else a chance.  She’s SO gorgeous when she doesn’t skeeze out with the trashy bad blond dye jobs/wigs, etc.  We like redheads even if Chelsea Handler doesn’t.

That Debbie Downer sketch (which is really more hilarious for the fact that a cast of professionals cannot keep it together for five seconds than anything) and the Neutrogena Coin Slot cream commercial are two of my favorite things about the last 5 years of SNL.

Thanks for reminding of the coin slot cream commercial

Speaking of SNL, the one this last weekend with Maya Rudolph hosting was the funniest it’s been in ages. The Maya Angelou prank show had me rolling.

I just watched Mean Girls again over the weekend. Still funny, though of course most of that credit goes to Tina Fey. I remember seeing that movie and thinking this Lohan girl was really going to blow up. Then I saw Herbie.

I know she’s one of the biggest hot messes of the decade but I still root for LL. I want her to make a huge comeback and be the best B+ actress she always was (and I mean that 100%). I’m always rooting for her.

I’d love to see both SNL and LL make some comebacks in 2012!
