What I’m going to do is this: I’m going to write the facts of the matter, post a clip from the original National Lampoon’s Vacation, and then back slowly away from my computer. So. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the script for a reboot of/sequel to Vacation, written by Horrible Bosses scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, has been greenlit and the two will also serve as co-directors. Deep breath. I’m OK. I can do this. Instead of Clark Griswold taking his family on vacation, this time it will be Clark’s grown son Rusty and I’ll bet you a dollar that there’s a scene in which Rusty and his son share a beer and Rusty gets all verklempt because he remembers that time when he shared a beer with his dad Clark and Clark thought it was Rusty’s first beer but it wasn’t and Rusty chugged the whole thing down in one fell swoop and while grown-up Rusty sits weeping Rusty Jr. shotguns his beer like a pro and what exactly is the point to this reboot and life itself? HOW DO YOU REBOOT COUSIN EDDIE, HOLLYWOOD? HOW? HOW? HOW?
