BRING IT, LESSER MORTALS
Cue the RuPaul-like “ooooooohhhhh, gurl” for this one, because yay! Celebrities and z-listers taking pot shots at each other in the media! MY FAVORITE.
Today’s bitch fight started out tamely enough, with Vanessa Williams—a beauty pageant veteran herself, obviously—answering some questions from Anderson Cooper about the world of child pageants and of course, Toddlers & Tiaras. Vanessa pointed out that she did not personally start doing pageants until she was in college; hinting, basically, that she was kinda sick of getting quizzed about child pageants because “Miss America As A Young Adult” is not equal to “Spray-Tanned Prostitots Go-Go-Juicing Around A Stage At The Holiday Inn Out By The Airport”.
But in the end, Vanessa’s opinions are pretty much the same ones that EVERYBODY OUTSIDE OF CHILD BEAUTY PAGEANTS have: That’s kinda messed up, yo.
Anderson: Do you think these girls are being pushed into it too soon?
Vanessa: I think they don’t know what they are doing. When the child is screaming and saying, ‘I don’t want to do this. I don’t feel like doing it.’ When they are using special juice to get them hyped.
Anderson: GoGo Juice. I actually have tasted GoGoJuice. It’s Mountain Dew & 7Up.
Vanessa: Yeah, that’s not my world and I would never have my kids do that.
Fair enough, right?
Apparently not, according to T&T mom Wendy Dickey, who took the bait when Neglected Pool Filter TMZ.com shopped Williams’ quotes around to the TLC set, looking for someone to lose their shit. And Dickey went there, and went there riding on the Klassytown Express:
The comments didn’t fly with “Tiaras” star Wendy Dickey—aka Paisley’s mom—who says she was personally offended … and lashed back:
“Posing nude and having an abortion is ‘not my world’ and I would never have my kids do that … so easy on the judging Vanessa!”
Dickey is clearly referring to the revelations Williams makes in her new book—in which she admits she got an abortion in high school … and explains how she appeared in Penthouse.
We reached out to Williams … but so far, no response.
Yeah, hopefully TMZ will be waiting a long, long time for Williams’ “response,” because Dickey’s comments don’t deserve one. What the hell, lady? I haven’t read William’s memoir but I seem to recall (and Celebitchy confirms) that the whole nude photo scandal involved someone taking advantage of her relative naiveté at 19 years old, promising the photos would stay private. (Hey, girls are STILL falling for that line, even when digital cameras and mobile phones make the leaking-to-the-Internet almost inevitable.) And the abortion comment? Ugh. Ridiculous, low and full of fail and troll. She might as well have posted a photo of Nicolas Cage with MY HAIR HAD AN ABORTION, YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID.
In case you’re like me and can’t tell any of the Toddlers & Tiaras people apart, Wendy Dickey is the one who dressed her three-year-old daughter like a pre-makeover Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman. (And then defended it by saying “At least I’m not forcing them into sports and getting my child injured like some parents.”) Yeah. Your world is truly a special one, lady.
