So! Lindsay Lohan! Seems like she’s fallen below the radar lately, which, for her, is a very good thing. As it turns out, her silence isn’t the result of an OD or time in the clink…she’s employed! That’s right, the only buzz Lindsay Lohan has been generating these days is for her role as Elizabeth Taylor in the film Liz & Dick. Remember when news first broke that she was going to be playing that part? The world collectively scratched its head, and a few celebrities were less-than-pleased.
I…uh…I don’t see it.
Then people got over it and the movie started production, and maybe Lindsay stole another necklace or hit some chick at a bar, but whatever. OLD NEWS. Then, just yesterday, we get the first official promotional image for the film.
HOT DAMN, GIRL!
I gotta say, this picture kinda makes me hope that–knock on wood–she’s making something of this gig. Sure, it’s just a Lifetime film, but STILL. The movie, which co-stars True Blood‘s Grant Bowler as Richard Burton, tells the story of Elizabeth and Richard’s historical romance–one which some of us modern parents may know relatively little about. Ahem. So! According to the network:
For nearly a quarter of a century, Taylor and Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance — often called “the marriage of the century” — was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day. Swarmed by paparazzi, Taylor and Burton’s love affair was played out entirely in front of the global press from the time they met on the set of the major motion picture Cleopatra, left their respective spouses, married and divorced, only to remarry and divorce once again. Despite their roller coaster romance for the public eye to see, Taylor and Burton shared an undeniable love greater than most people could have ever dreamed.
In other words, these guys were the Brangelina of their day! GOT IT.
And this promotional photo isn’t the only flicker of hope, if sources are to be believed. On the set, Lindsay is impressing fellow castmates and production members. Costume design and makeup are a major part of the film, and Lindsay is working those aspects like a pro. It is said of her first day on set that, when she emerged dressed as Elizabeth Taylor, “there was an audible gasp. You’d swear it was Elizabeth.”
IN-ter-est-ing.
Sources go on to describe Lindsay’s enthusiasm:
“She brings in makeup for me,” makeup artist Eryn Krueger Mekash, who’s using mostly Chanel, Dior and M.A.C products, tells PEOPLE. Adds the movie’s hair stylist, Beatrice De Alba, “She looks so much like her. There was a moment when she saw her picture on the monitor and said ‘I’m her.’ It was thrilling.”
More photos seem to corroborate the rumors.
On the other hand, there are some that seem to show us glimpses of the Lohan we’ve all grown to love-to-have-pity-for. These images were shot by paparazzi in LA, where the made-for-TV-movie is currently filming.
Oh, dear.
Lohan, 25, squeezed into a retro 1960s-style sundress to film an argument scene opposite Grant Bowler, 43, who plays Burton in the film, seemed to have trouble keeping her assets in place as her left breast continued to pop out. The wardrobe malfunction was caught on camera by paparazzi. The two actors were in character on board a boat that was meant to replicate a trip the couple took to Naples, Italy in 1965.
At the moment, there is no anticipated date of release for this film, but here’s hoping that Lindsay can make something of this. It’s a lot of pressure for a Lifetime movie to sustain, but I’m kind of over anticipating the 25 year-old’s untimely death.
Let’s hope this one sticks.
