When Celebrity Plastic Surgery Goes Good

For all the denial and the conflicting reports, Hollywood certainly looks a lot different from the rest of the planet. I imagine that Botox and filler technicians working in Los Angeles are making better livings than most A-list celebrities.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with a little plastic surgery. I’ve never had anything done but I haven’t ruled it out either. I’m sure at some point I’ll look in the mirror and want to do something about my frown lines and my crow’s feet— it just hasn’t happened yet. When that time comes, if I have the disposable income (my daughter can pay her own way through college, right?) or if I can convince my insurance company that I need it for medical purposes (my sagging eyelids are blocking my peripheral vision!), I’ll lay down on that table and let the good doctor go to work.

One thing, I’ve noticed, is that the best plastic surgeries are the ones that don’t veer to far from what God intended. A shave from the nose, a small lift around the eyes, a slight breast augmentation. The things that make you think— wow, Gwyneth Paltrow looks awesome! But you can’t quite put your finger on why.

I also suspect (because I know someone whose doctor convinced her to do this), that many celebrities get face lifts way before the general public thinks they need one. That way, as the person ages, the skin remains a lot tighter than it would naturally and nobody is the wiser. (If you’re curious, that person did this about ten years ago and while I thought she had been sold a bill of goods at the time, she now looks fantastic for her age without any telltale signs of surgery.)

People who want to completely transform themselves overnight (like Heidi Montag) or erase every conceivable sign of aging (like Nicole Kidman) are the ones that really screw themselves (<–click if you dare! *shudder*). But for every Joan Rivers and Melanie Griffith, there is someone in Hollywood who keeps their surgery goals in check.

Below are some examples of celebrities who must have excellent plastic surgeons:

Jennifer Anniston

Jen has widely been touted as having one of the most successful and natural looking nose jobs in Hollywood.

Megan Fox

Some reports say that Megan has had $60,000 worth of work done – Botox, fillers, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, etc. but her rep denies it. If it’s true, she looks amazing. But she should STOP NOW.

Jane Fonda

Jane Fonda thought that she would never get plastic surgery until one day she woke up and decided she didn’t look how she felt. The woman continues to look beautiful even if it’s with the aid of a knife.

Bristol Palin

Bristol Palin got jaw surgery for medical reasons (her teeth were misaligned) but it definitely had a positive effect on her looks. Call it bullshit if you want but I had to get the same surgery in high school— doctor’s orders.

I agree about every one of these examples – especially Kris Jenner. She looks like she’s had surgery, but it was GOOD surgery.

Jaclyn Smith is 60+ years old, too. Wish I could afford her doctor.

Ugh, I do not understand the fervour about denying plastic surgery, especially if it is pretty obvious. Kudos to Jaclyn. She looks wonderful.

I distinctly remember Jane Fonda speaking out *against* plastic surgery on the Today Show. This was years ago, when 9 to 5 had hit some anniversary. I remember it vividly because she was with her 9 to 5 co-stars, Lily Tomlin, and the very-surgically-altered Dolly Parton. I felt uncomfortable watching this awkward bit in my own damn living room; can’t imagine how Dolly felt.
