Twitter is the magical land that makes celebrities seem approachable or a little bit more human. They, too, moan about bad days, retweet jokes, share funny links, and Instagram photos of whatever they’re eating for breakfast. But there are hundreds of celebrities on Twitter and only 24 hours in a day. How do you know which ones to invest your precious Twitter time in? I’ve done the legwork for you and compiled the best celebrity Twitter accounts to follow as of December 2012:
Who: Mindy Kaling
Why: Because she’s funny and super cute and everyone woman between the age of 28 and 38 has a crush on her. Would I hang out with Mindy Kaling? Yeah, I’d catch a movie with her or eat tapas or try on clothes and curse the fluorescent lighting in fitting rooms with her. Absolutely. We ALL would. (Call me!)
Who: @SeinfeldToday
Why: What if Seinfeld was still on the air today, in this era of Zumba, Lindsay “I’ve Been Arrested More Times Than a Baldwin Brother” Lohan, 50 Shades of Gray, and (insert “We’re not worthy” bow) Facebook? Would Elaine be crumping at the office party? Would Jerry make fun of vegans? (But of course he would.) @SeinfeldToday cuts through the mystery and lets you know exactly how 2012 would fare in the Seinfeldian world.
Who: @SnoopDogg
Why: Because it’s…well, it’s Snoop Dogg. Scrolling through his Twitter feed, it’s really obvious that he is actually sitting in some smoky room, pouring Chandon, tippy-tapping on his iPhone, writing these Tweets himself – and he enjoys it. The man even uses the hashtag #puffpuffpasstuesdays. I can appreciate a celebrity that appreciates Twitter.
Oh, right. Snoop Dogg is supposed to be Snoop Lion now after a spiritual awakening. A High Priest renamed him, but said High Priest obviously did not think about how catchy it is to say “Snoop D Oh Double G.”
Who: @Dolly_Parton
Why: Because she’s like your eccentric aunt from the deep South…with a wig and a lot of makeup and maybe just a little bit of plastic surgery. Her Tweets are like fresh baked chocolate chip cookies… and whiskey, maybe.
Weh-heh-elllll. Hide your husbands, ladies. Aunt Dolly is sassy.
Who: @BarbieStyle
Why: Barbie is tweeting, y’all!! And her Twitter page is super sparkly (natch), and sometimes Ken tweets for her. It serves up a nice little bit of nostalgia/weird childhood in my Twitter feed. Also, before my daughters are really old enough to Barbie out, I’m going to Tweet her and ask her if there’s a chance that they’ll finally make a Barbie that doesn’t look like she fell into the clearance rack at Forever 21. Here’s hoping.
OMD! (I am unsure what this means, but I’ll probably start using it.)
