Considering how much of a Genre Geek I am, and the fact that I have an 8-year-old son who is following in my footsteps, it’s a small miracle that there’s nary a U.S.S. Enterprise ornament or plastic Orc head dangling from the boughs of our trees. (ASIDE: Just last night we spent a good twenty minutes discussing the trailers for the new Superman movie, the Star Trek sequel, and Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, which holy shit you guys, Guillermo del Toro making a movie about giant monsters battling giant robots! I MEAN LOOK AT THIS:
RIGHT? RIGHT?) Yet despite our marked family nerdiness and love of sci-fi, our holiday decor is shockingly… normal.
However, with Christmas just around the corner, my fellow geeks, nerds, fanboys and fangirls are putting their own spin on the traditional Christmas tree. Thank God the Internet exists, is all I can say.
