If I’m being honest, I’m kind of a fair-weather fan of the show Revenge. I think it’s mostly because I have a daughter who has a nasty little habit of deleting things on my DVR after she has watched them, but before I have watched them. (Sigh.)
But when I’m lucky enough to watch an episode here and there, I remember why I set it to record in the first place—it’s a really good guilty pleasure. I totally didn’t think I was going to like the story of Emily Van Camp‘s Emily Thorne, who shows up in a very well-dressed town to take down all of the well-dressed people who were responsible for her father’s death. In fact, I didn’t WANT to like it. But I guess I’m a sucker for a prime time soap that is equal parts campy and, well, even more campy. And even though it’s set in the Hamptons, there’s a very OC feel to it, complete with men in blazers and deck shoes and ladies who lunch whilst sporting fitted dresses and perfectly coiffed hair.
The only thing that’s missing are Sandy Cohen’s eyebrows.
The show seems to have lost a bit of steam in its second season, which is pretty typical—remember Heroes season 2? Of course not because nobody does. After they saved the cheerleader and saved the world, there wasn’t much left for season 2. So, this season isn’t as fast paced and exciting as season 1, but the fashion remains over-the-top enviable.
And while I covet the dresses of the some of the lovely, leading ladies on the show, like Charlotte and Ashley—
—it’s really Emily Thorne whose wardrobe I absolutely covet. Emily has exactly two fashion modes—casual and formal. Both modes tend to be mostly monochromatic, and she tends to stick to bold colors like reds, whites, blues, and beiges, and the silhouettes are usually on the fitted side and she tends to dress a bit more mature than her age in clothing that’s understated and sophisticated, but she sure knows how to accentuate her positives. Think J.Crew meets Ann Taylor meets Forever 21 meets Jason Wu meets Taylor Swift when she was dating Conor Kennedy and thinking of buying a home in Hyannis Port.
If you want to recreate Emily’s Hamptons style, I recommend finding a few great, simple pieces like these:
1. Gitane Tassel Necklace, $69, Stella & Dot
2. Crewneck Cardigan, $44.50, LOFT
3. Water Mint Knit Top, $190, Stylebop.com
4. 1969 Western Stripe Dress, $69.50, Gap
5. Vintage Cotton Tee, $12.50, J.Crew

Are you watching Revenge? Please tell me I’m not the only one!
