If The Onion Was English...
Any of you who like to waste an hour or two snorting over The Onion headlines of a morning, might well enjoy this British masterpiece. The Framley Examiner is the perfect spoof of a local British newspaper, and you don't need to be from Blighty to appreciate it.
Headlines include "Mayor Has Balls Done," "Cycle Lane 'Not Even As Long As Small Cycle'" and "Pound Found."
"A Pound Coin has been found abandoned in a phone box in Whoft. The coin was discovered in the early hours of Friday morning by revellers who had been attending a wassail at a nearby gallimaufry.
"My mobile had gone broken so I went for the phone box," said tiny Mark Jebbs, 35...." (Go on, read s'more....)
But the best section by far is The Personals....
"Sporty, fit, attractive female, 28, seeks lumpy distastrous 'all over in 2 minutes' mid-life crisis sufferer for short-to-mid term relationship..."
Saucy!
The entire archive is available online, but they also have a couple of books that my Daddy is definitely going to be getting this Father's Day.
Thanks to Antonia of Whoopee who first alerted me of this gem. (and if you want to find a quintessentially British blogger of the frightfully funny kind, stop by her place for a visit.)
