Recommended Song or Album:
I recently bought The Best of the B-52's
(because frankly, it was easier than digging through all my old cd's,
vinyl and CASSETTES to put together a selection of my fave B-52 songs
for my almost seven year old daughter. Yes. My KID is loving music from
my youth and I'm officially OLD. But anyway, we had heard a handful of
B-52 songs on the radio recently and watching my daughter and myself
bouncing around in the car like total dorks made me realize that it's
actually very kid-friendly music that doesn't make me want to yack.
Soooo, I got the Best of CD and it's fracking awesome! Of course, it
doesn't have ALL my fave songs but you know, all the "hits" (Dance This
Mess Around, Planet Claire, 52 Girls etc) are present and it's just a
lot of fun to listen to in the car with the rugrats. FUN, dammit!

(My lord, but am I ever lame.)
Recommended song or album:
Uh. It has only now occurred to me that I haven't stopped listening to Amy Winehouse for an entire month now and maybe I need to think about giving that poor CD a break. (I've also been enjoying a renaissance for Carbon Leaf's Indian Summer of a couple years ago, for whatever that's worth. I was pretty disappointed with their last release, but man, Indian Summer is the best CD for bbq-ing to ever.)

I have one very important question, okay maybe two. One, who thinks Kevin Costner is still hot? And two, why in the hell did he grow a soul patch*?

*It's a soul patch not a goatee. I stand corrected. ;0)

Kate Winslet is one of those women who just exudes that rare quality in Hollywood: class.
Here she is on the set of her new movie, "Revolutionary Road", a 1950's drama about a suburban Connecticut couple whose relationship deteriorates into an endless cycle of squabbling, jealousy and recriminations. Also starring? Leo DiCaprio and Kathy Bates. In other words, this movie can't miss.

Oh, am I psyched about this. Next Tuesday, June 5th, Kathy Griffin's phenomenal My Life on the D-List returns for a third season. Now, I am not a huge fan of the reality shows, but this one? BRILLIANT. It's easily one of the best shows on TV, pants hands down.

Recommended Song or Album: Robin Thicke's new cd titled, "The Evolution of Robin Thicke". Sure the title is kinda corny, but his songs are oh so soulful. This is one of those CD's that you put on to get into the mood, or simply relax. His vibe is very Marvin Gaye. On a side note Robin Thicke's real life dad is Alan Thicke, the actor from "Growing Pains".

Wow. This could be huge.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger - the talk radio personality who daily dishes out judgmental advice on parenting and morals - may be in for some heartbreak. The Salt Lake Tribune and TMZ are reporting that a lurid MySpace account credited to Dr. Laura's 21-year-old deployed son, Deryk, who is currently serving in Afghanistan has been pulled for what one Army official called
"repulsive" content.
The SLT reports:
"The MySpace page, publicly available until Friday when it
disappeared from the Internet, included cartoon depictions of rape,
murder, torture and child molestation; photographs of soldiers with
guns in their mouths; a photograph of a bound and blindfolded detainee
captioned "My Sweet Little Habib"; accounts of illicit drug use; and a
blog entry headlined by a series of obscenities and racial epithets."
Click for the details of the ongoing investigation as well as an alleged journal entry of Deryk's.

Britney Spears is one giant mess. I mean girlfriend walks barefoot into bathrooms, doesn't wear panties, can't seem to NOT get food on her clothes, and obviously enjoys a nice healthy lunch of dirty nails. YUM.

Kelly Ripa has it going on. I mean think about it. She looks amazing, has 3 great kids, 1 VERY HOT husband, and a nice steady paycheck. I could almost hate her.

Recommended Song or Album: "There But for the Grace of God Go I" by Machine. Wonderful, wonderful old disco/early house gay anthem. I've been listening to this constantly. The lyrics tell the story of a couple who have a kid and decide that they need to move out of the city to "somewhere far away, with no blacks, no Jews, and no gays." The lyrics were initially misinterpreted as hateful when really the song was talking about how backward that kind of thinking is. The child of the couple in the song grows up to be different and weird ("a natural freak") despite her parents' attempts to bring her up in a "normal" environment and the song tries to point out how great that is.

School's out, Lost is off the air until next winter, Idol is but a pony-hawked-shaped memory, and Lindsay's antics are temporarily curtailed, so maybe now you're wondering what the hell to do with this whole summer stretching in front of you. The good news is I can help.
When the mercury rises, there's no pleasure greater than reading something engaging on a beach. So, I scanned my shelves for the wrinkliest, most-water-logged/sand-filled books I had and came up with this sure-fire list of engaging summer reads for your upcoming baking-and-bathing plans.

My love for NCB's Friday Night Lights is well documented on this site. So, you can imagine my delight when I learned that NBC would be rerunning the show on Sunday nights at 9pm EST over the summer. It doesn't appear that the episodes are necessarily running in order, but one of the great things about this show is that you can be late to the game and still become utterly enchanted. People, if you haven't watched this show yet, I beg you to give it a chance. Maybe if enough people get on board, NBC will reconsider its Friday evening timeslot come fall.
