Be Kind Rewind - New Michel Gondry Movie!!!!!
Michel Gondry, the man behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which is one of my all-time favorite movies, The Science of Sleep and some of the best, most original and visually stunning music videos, is getting ready to blow our minds again. Be Kind Rewind, which is scheduled to be released in December in the U.S., is the tale of a guy named Jerry (Jack Black) who becomes magnetized and accidentally erases all of the tapes in his friend Mike's (Mos Def) video store. Seeking a solution, they decide to remake all of the movies themselves with a camcorder. (Trailer after the jump.)
I, for one, can not wait for this movie. While I do have a slow-burning hatred for Jack Black (he's been overdoing the same shtick since High Fidelity and it got real old real fast), I think a good and weird Gondry movie is perfect for him. And believe me when I say that Mos Def is a fantastic actor and does so well in goofy roles like this. Check out The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy some time and try not to giggle at how sweetly odd he is.
Aside from that, the premise of the movie looks so funny and the trailer has me yearning for December...well, that and the searing heat wave. Check it:
