Flight of the Conchords: For the Most Dorky Girl in the Room
I am officially OBSESSED with Flight of the Conchords. (Which just got renewed for a second season, wheeee!)
Like a lot of HBO shows, it took me a couple episodes to really get hooked. In fact, I was probably on the fence until I heard this song.
Ever since? I'm Mel, brought to life, all wild-eyed and MP3-downloading and OnDemand-watching.
Now, I'm not sure how dorky y'all are, but let me just disclose HOW HUGE OF A DORK I AM.
Do you remember the Figwit phenomenon? Back at the height of the Lord of the Rings furor, some fans noticed this really hot extra. This really hot elf extra with barely three seconds of screen time and no lines. They named him Figwit (for "Frodo is great...who is THAT??") and devoted entire websites and probably dozens of server rooms of sexy fan fiction to him.
Peter Jackson was so amused by the whole thing that the "character" ended up getting his own trading card and even an actual line in the extended version of the third movie.
Yeah. That's Bret, y'all.
(He's so hot....BOOM.)
Anyway, I'm sorry for taking up an entire post about something that probably interests oh...maybe two of you, if I'm lucky, but that's your bizarre trivia for the day.
And as a bonus, here's a pre-HBO Flight of the Conchords MP3 of their song "Frodo." If you or anyone you know is a LotR geek, you MUST listen, for it is hilarious. HILARIOUS I SAY.

Where can I get those other MP3s? I need me some FotC on my iPod. Especially the Bowie song. That will never stop being funny to me.

The FotC fansites have tons of (mostly live) MP3s, so check out whatthefolk.net and conchords.net. iTunes also has their EP for like, $5.
I managed to find a lot of the other songs and some HBO versions just by Googling the song titles, but if you have trouble locating anything I would be happy to share. (I have a live version of Bowie...couldn't find the HBO version.)
(Pointy nipple antenna!)
(Pony up for the songs on the EP though, people. /anti-piracy psa)

All I have to do is say, "No, Brett. I'm David Bowie," and my husband and I die laughing. It sounded so weird we couldn't *not* tune in, and we've been addicted from the first ep.
Sheer, lunatic brilliance.

they had me at the robot song: 'the humans are dead...i kicked one, it was dead.'
in fact, just typing that made me laugh. except, i'm not just typing. obviously i'm actually singing it now.
damnit.

OK, I am SO intrigued. Because when Sex in the City died, so did my HBO subscription. I need to know more....and need to check to see if Blockbuster has it available on Total Access. Cuz I need more TV to watch.

OK, some quick research brought me slightly up-to-date. And, I don't know how you all feel about "sharing" but Limewire has loads of Flight of the Conchord's stuff. I am personally intrigued by the Busdriver Song but haven't downloaded it yet. Is there stuff every raunchy? Because my son could love them, but I don't want any surprises...

Nothing too raunchy, but I would forgo the song "A Kiss Is Not a Contract." You can have a look and listen here:

Oh, hells yeah. $5 for their EP is definitely a steal. Gonna check that out later.
BTW, I have seen their stand-up/live act (not in person but on cable), and the songs are brilliantly performed, but the show really brings another dimension to them. For that reason (and for Murray), I prefer the show.

All I have to say is it's Wednesday. You know what time it is? "It's Business Time"!

Did Steve tell you that, perchance? Steve!
I make my husband do the dance in Hiphopopotamus like 2 or 3 times a day. It never gets old.

I am finally delurking. Yay! I LOVE this show. I don't have HBO, but if you go to allfotc.com, they stream the episodes for your enjoyment. I'm glad that other people out there love this show as much as me!
