Dexter's Back And Looking For Blood!
Okay, confession. I only signed up for Showtime to watch The L Word. And I convinced my boyfriend we needed to pay all that extra money with promises of NAKED. WOMEN. and LESBIAN. SEX! With him sufficiently convinced, we signed up and then attempted to find other shows we wanted to watch. Some way to make the added expense worthwhile.
And then I was introduced to Dexter.
Just enough drama and blood to satisfy the suspense junkie in me, with intense character development and acting, this show sucked me in to the point of watching the reruns of the episodes all summer long. And now the second season is about to start it's run, with new characters, added complications to Dexter's world, and all new murderous sub-plots.
(don't keep reading if you don't want spoilers)
We all know the story by now: Dexter is a serial killer hiding his secret identity by working as a blood spatter specialist for the Miami Metro Police Department. He sublimates his urges during the day while stalking the "bad guys" of Miami at night, believing himself a vigilante, cleaning up the messes the police department can't seem to handle. In the first season he battled not only his demons but another serial killer (who turned out to be his brother) while getting ever closer to his "broken like he is" girlfriend Rita. The second season gets even hotter and more dangerous than the first, with more and more of Dex's actions surfacing to haunt him.
What sort of haunts must Dexter deal with second season? Let's just say he's got a brother not going quietly into the dark night, and a fellow police officer stalking him. He has to improve on his bowling game, attend NA meetings and deal with Rita's jealousy over his new Sponsor. All while dealing with the ever-present threat of the rest of Miami finding his deep dark secret ... the burial place of his victims.
If you don't have Showtime, you need to sign up for it IMMEDIATELY. Dexter is worth the money, and you could probably even convince your cable company to give you a free trial, which would expire about the time Dexter's over with. Twelve little episodes, and your world will never be the same.
I promise.

I love this show so much. I hadn't heard the spoilers and I'm thrilled to hear them. Hmmmm. What could you mean about Richard?!

I only signed up for Showtime to watch the L Word, too! Then I realized that I hated the L Word, but that I LOVED Weeds, Dexter, and The Tudors, so everything worked out just fine.

I love love LOVE Dexter! Sometimes I'm so scared I can't breathe, and then other times I'm giggling at how awkward he is. Is it strange to have a baby-crush on a serial killer?

I hadn't ever seen the series until about 3 weeks ago. I watched all of the episodes in 2 days! I was hooked! I agree with SuzyQ, I have a crush on a serial killer.
