Britney Spears Hits Rock Bottom. Again.
BREAKING NEWS: CNN is reporting that Britney has lost custody of her children. TO KEVIN FEDERLINE, PEOPLE. LEST YE FORGET.
A court has ordered pop singer Britney Spears to give up custody of her children effective Wednesday at noon.
Spears' former husband, Kevin Federline, is to retain custody of their two sons "until further order of the court," according to a ruling by Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon.
It was not clear what led to Monday's decision awarding Federline full custody. A transcript of the court proceedings was ordered sealed.
Last month, a judge ordered Spears, 25, to submit to random drug tests after finding she engaged in "habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol."
We won't even get into what kind of disturbing statement it is on American culture that this is the lead story over at CNN. No we won't.
As for Britney, can it get any worse? Is that even possible? We'll find out, I guess. Le sigh.
UPDATE: She was out last night. After losing her kids. I'm speechless.

I bet you anything she still goes out and makes "appearances" to the paps...

Great that Kevin has the kids with money attached to them, but what about his first two kids? We never see him with them...
Neither one of them are fit if you ask me. But how sad that Britney is actually the lesser of the two parents in the court's eyes.

maybe it's what she needs to scare her...

I cannot imagine a judge ordering this unless Britney failed drug tests. Which is to say, she wanted those babies off her hands.

word, lena.
tmz is saying that she gave the kids up to federline early this afternoon. notably, after taking the kids to a Carl's Jr drive-thru.
ugh.

What Lena said.
I've been saying it (to my husband, who, by the way, couldn't care less about the Spederline drama) all along: it's not like she had a laundry list of difficult things she had to do to keep custody. She didn't have to try hard to keep the kids; she had to try hard to lose them.

I wonder if she has had some kind of breakdown and can't take care of those kids. I wish her mom and dad could get to her and get her the help she needs. Those boys are adorable. I hope she gets well or off the drugs, which ever is her problem.

I still wonder if postpartum depression is somehow playing a part in her behavior.

I don't know. I might have gone out, too, if only to not have to deal with myself alone in a house I shared with my kids just a few hours previous, y'know?
I'm with Jana: I hope she gets better. This whole thing is just sad.

I think she doesn't understand rules. She doesn't understand the repercussions of breaking the rules because she's never had to deal with it.
SHE LOST CUSTODY OF HER KIDS.
And she just doesn't get it. She's still famous, she's on every news channel. She's got our attention and she's thriving off of it. She's not going to hit rock bottom until the attention stops because that's the only thing that's keeping her going because it's validating her behavior.
There's no amount of mom and dad swooping in that's going to help right now.

Very sad. I read on one of the celebrity blogs (might have tmz) that she lost custody because she failed to show for court mandated appearances and requirements (e.g., valid license, drug testing, parents counseling).

aw, jeez, Britney. Move back to Kentwood and find yourself. Nobody there can stand you any more, either, but at least you'll have a chance to do something besides freakin' SHOP every day. And it's too far to drive to New Orleans to get wasted every night.

it's obvious she doesnt want them. This is akin to 'suicide by cop'. She'd be lambasted if she just came out and said she didnt want them, so she goes this route to have them taken away - let the judge be the bad guy. But she doesnt want them. Guess it's better than putting them in the bottom of a lake.

I think she wanted to lose custody too. I think she saw them as a burden and someone to dress up. She probably blames them for her fallen career, popularity, and looks.
If I had 3 days left to spend time with my babies, I'd spend every one of those minutes with them. I wouldn't drop them off the first day. She's an idiot! We'll be hearing about her bar and guy hopping again pretty soon. She needs to be in a psych ward.

I cannot imagine a mom not doing anything to keep her kids. They would have to rip my kids literally out of my arms to take them away from me. If someone told me I had to dye my hair purple and only eat wheat germ all the days of my life to keep my kids, I would do it.
Britney's Apathy...Does.Not.Compute.
Good Lord, Brit. Give the kids to me. I can raise them better than you and Skankerline put together.

This is what addiction looks like. You can judge her, you can say she "wanted" this or "didn't want" that, but the bottom line is, she is addicted to alcohol and drugs to the point where nothing else matters. It's really sad.
