Happy Birthday, MamaPop!

Dudes. MamaPop is a whole damn year old. Can you believe it?

Back then, it was just me and Tracey, thinking we knew what in the hell we were doing, updating all by ourselves. Once a day, usually. I think we posted via carrier pigeons. Or by shouting into empty paper towel rolls.

And now, it's me and Tracey and Lena and Kelly and Amy and Robyn and Izzy and Angela and Zoot and Joy and Eden and Bossy and Amanda, thinking we know what in the hell we are doing. But now we're doing it every hour, with the forum action going on 24/7.

Want some more perspective? Britney Spears was still married to KFed. Lindsay Lohan had never been arrested once, let alone twice. Lost was still talking about polar bears and Brangelina only had four kids. Anna Nicole was still alive, and the subsequent frenzy over the Dannielynn custody battle caused our traffic to spike and our server to crash and the site to go big, big boom.

MamaPop has changed a lot over the past year -- our writers, our content and our voice, as we've tried to figure out what we all want the site to be. And what YOU want the site to be. Luckily, I think we're all finally in agreement: we want the site to be fun, where everybody -- readers included -- has a place to talk about what they're passionate about, be it a TV show or lolcats or the celebuwreck du jour.

Thanks to everybody -- readers, commenters, lurkers, writers and forumsters -- for putting up with a year of nonsense. It's been a freaking lot of fun.

Happy Birthday, Mamapop!! I check the site daily; okay, okay several times a day. I'm not sure how I got along before and you are never allowed to go away.

Yay! Happy Birthday, Mamapop!!! I remember the first day when you posted a link from amalah.com to come on over and see the site. When I saved it as a favorite it still said "beta" in the address. :-)

It has changed a lot during the year. I loved the open threads and live blogging in the beginning. I am looking forward to another great year of viewing the site!

This site has become one of my favorite time-wasters, if you couldn't tell that from your site stats (hellooo, crazy girl with nothing better to do than check the site for updates 87 kajillion times an hour). (And, really, I mean "time-waster" in the lovingest sense of the word)

Yay for MamaPop and all the betches! Love your site, check it regularly, probably too often, but that comes from having a boring life, especially at work, where I am right now. Heh.

You ladies have done an awesome job of creating a fun, interactive website, one that I look forward to checking out.
