Help, I Am Confused.

Kat_von_d

Was there something wrong with this face?  Seriously, take a long look and tell me if you see any problems there.  I looked for a long time.  I looked QUITE a bit when Kat Von D was on Miami Ink, if you know what I'm saying and I think you do.  And I think that is a very good face.  So I was watching LA Ink yesterday with one of my favorite neighbors (woo, shout out!) and we were both taken aback when the scary visage you will see after the jump appeared on the screen.

Kat_von_d_yikesWHAT is she doing?  And why?  Why did she go for the jumbo cheek implants; were there none smaller?  Why does she look like the Cat Lady?  (YOU look it up; I've had enough bad plastic surgery for one day.)  And before anyone tells me this is a camera angle issue, let me assure you that they caught Ms. Von D from many camera angles in the episode of  LA Ink I watched yesterday (which documented her road to breast implants - SIGH), and I mean to tell you, I nearly mistook her for Latoya Jackson.  This is no small amount of work she's had done on her face.  And again, WHY?  WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?

While we're talking about gorgeous women who get reality shows and do weird things to their faces, I also noticed Pepa (of Salt-n'-) hacked off a good portion of her previously perfectly nice nose, too.  She's looking really plastic-y on the Salt 'n' Pepa Show (watch that, by the way, for it is goodness).  What's going on here?  Can we stage an intervention?  Someone call A&E!

totally mangled that nose. is Michael Jackson-level narrow now. people are so dumb.

Amanda

LAInk girl was cuter before. Younger-looking, too.

Anna

Self-mutilation seems to be her thing. Sorry, but I think the tatts are just as bad. Why be surprised when she starts taking a knife to it?

T.I.

"Why be surprised when she starts taking a knife to it?"

Because one set of actions (tattoos) does nothing to bring someone "in line" with current U.S. societal norms and the other actions (breast implants, cheek/eye/nose whateverthefuckery) show a strict adherence to all the worst messages this culture has to offer.

Izzy

She got a boob job??? I've missed a lot, apparently.

Bobo

Having tattoos and plastic surgery are two entirely different things, in my opinion. Hopefully somebody who feels the same can explain this better, but I personally don't believe tattoos to be self-mutilation at all.
First of all, cosmetic surgery seems to be done mostly when people have low self-esteem and when they want to change themselves to become generically attractive and to fit other people's standards of beauty. It's disappointing when someone like Kat von D gets plastic surgery, because she was already beautiful and unique before.
On the other hand, those with tattoos want to get something permanent that expresses their individuality. Two entirely different situations in my opinion...
Phew that was a bit long, and not all that clear either.

Word to TI and Bobo. I think both comments sum up my thoughts on the issue much better than anything I'd have babbled would have!

disnazzio

Hello, syntax. And that comment I just posted is exactly why I should stick to just echoing things other people say, heh.

missbanshee

I love all my tattoos and would never consider them self-mutilation. I actually view them as being a celebration of my body, which I have always had...issues...with. I also think Kat is frakkin' GORGEOUS, and it pains me that she's getting the plastic surgery. She's not even 30, for chrissakes!!!!!

kdiddy

omg T.I. what are you doing here? Why aren't you in jail? you're a danger to the internets!

BOSSY

Bossy used to love her on Miami Ink but the whole LA show is a tattoo-covered ego trip.

Alyce

She lost weight, is what happened. Like 25 lbs. And when you're already thin, it brings out the boniness in your face. Plus, she's smiling in one picture and not smiling in the other. She didn't have plastic surgery (at least not recently).

Also, she didn't get a boob job. I'm sure it was some lame producer's idea to get their surgeon on TV (free publicity/free bob job for producer).

jon

she's ugly now she was ugly then.

claire

she definately wasnt ugly before and she isnt now.
its up to her to change whatever she wants about herself and as for her tattoos i personally think they look awesome
