Entertainment Weekly's Top 25 Entertainers of the Year
The list is out! Let's have a look at who made ET's cut of 2007, shall we?
1. George Clooney
What can you say about George Clooney. He is exceptionally handsome and charming and makes good movies (forget that Batmasn fiasco). He went to Darfur with his dad, risking life and limb to chronicle the horrors of the genocide there. He also looks all hot on his motorbike. I can’t decide whether I would be happy or bummed if he eventually committed to a woman.
2. The Sopranos
Definitely pioneering a television genre, and on HBO so we could hear
all the swearing and lewd words in their full glory. Also, full credit
for making a overweight mobster sexy.
3.Angelina Jolie
Seriously? I must have missed her entertaining me. I guess because
the press is so fixated on the Brangelina thing perhaps we missed her
movies this year. My preference would be for a naked Jolie in Beowolf
and I hear a Mighty Heart is supposed me to be decent.
4. Will Smith
Hard to believe he went from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to making some
kickass movies. OI am just crossing my finger that nut job Tom Cruise
doesn’t turn him to the dark side.
5. Tommy Lee Jones
I love me some Tommy Lee. No Country for Old Man is supposedly
awesome. I will likely rent it Since I almost never go to the theatre
because there are PEOPLE there.
6. Cable Queens
Glenn Close (FX's Damages), Mary-Louise Parker (Showtime's Weeds), Kyra
Sedgwick (TNT's The Closer), and Holly Hunter (TNT's Saving Grace). I
admit that I don’t really get to see these shows. They originate on
cable channels that we don’t get. Some of the Canadian channels have
picked them up, but I hate not seeing series from the beginning. I
can’t decide which one to start with, but Kyra Sedgwick is so cute.
7. Matt Damon
The Bourne series. Who every thought Matt Damon could kick such ass as
an action hero. Sexiest Man Alive indeedy! Makes you forget he won an
Oscar for Screen writing.
8. Johnny Depp
Uhh der. No surprise here. I am not a huge fan, but I love the humour of Jack Sparrow.
9. Katherine Heigl
I loved Knocked Up, but for some reason, I just don’t like her. She
seems like she thinks she is all that and a bag of chips. I loved
Isaiah Washington on Grey’s. I am not condoning him slagging T.R.
Knight, but we all stay stupid shit. She made a big stink, he got
fired. I miss him. I dunno, she won that Emmy, blah, sour grapes I
guess.
10. Carrie Underwood
Not an Idol fan, never heard of her until Faith Hill apparently made a
face when she won some Country Music award for best artist. It is nice
to see someone distance themselves from Simon Cowell and his ilk of
idiots. Although the song she wrote for my beloved movie Enchanted is
saccharine and lame. At least in my opinion.
11. Kanye West
I totally miss the appeal of this guy. I am terribly sad for his
family’s loss of his mother. His music isn’t my style I guess. I did
love the “George W. Bush hates black people” comment. The Fifty Cent
thing was also just too much and silly.
12. Zac Efron
High School Musical is a phenomenon that I caught up on WAY late. I
found out about the juggernaut from my friend’s kid. Zac Efron is a
cutie. Alas, I hate musicals and I am old. Hopefully I can avoid this
trend.
13. Rihanna
Wha’who? Umbrella something or another. Again, getting old. Living in
an alternate universe where music like this doesn’t hit my ears.
Thankfully I think.
14. Miley Cyrus
Hanna Montana holy crap. Also, a new sensation to me, but apparently
HUGE! When asked the career she'd most like to have besides her
own...''Hilary Duff's. She's stayed super true to herself and was also
really successful, and that's what I want to do.'' Wow.
15. Shia LaBeouf
Cute, appears talented. What was the deal with the WalGreens?
16.Funnyordie.com - Will Ferrel and Andy McKay If you haven’t seen The Landlord, you have to load it up ASAP.
17. Tina Fey
Would gay marry her. She is cute as a button and a comic genius.
18. Apatow Gang
Apatow and his peeps are funny geniuses. It is difficult for me to
think about any of them except Paul Rudd. So hot, and funny.
19. The Simpsons
The movie didn’t suck. I think that was impressive. I really thought it would blow. Yay for not blowing.
20.Vanessa Williams
This is iffy for me. I guess Entertainment Weekly was trying to pick
from a variety of people, but enh, seems like a stretch. Of course I
am sure everyone has an opinion on who should and should not be on this
list.
21. Gerard Butler
SPARRTTAAAAAAAAA!!!
22. Amy Winehouse
Train Wreccccccckkk!!!!
23. Tyler Perry
Huh? Again missing the allure here. He is handsome.
24. Mad Men
Bah! I haven’t watched it, but I LOVE John Slattery http://imdb.com/name/nm0805476/
25. J.K Rowling
As Entertainment Weekly said, it is easy to justify wht she was picked
as number 1 entertainer of the year. She got people to read, and not
just kids. She even helped facilitate making her books into fabulous
movies. Without getting too mushy, Harry Potter has been a fantastic
part of my reading and movie life. I think she is genius.

I gotta say no to The Sopranos, Angelina Jolie, and and (way, waaay overhyped).
But the rest of the list is surprisingly good.
And those pictures of George and Paul (WOAH!) were just what I needed right now. mmmmmmmmm....

I meant to say "and Tyler Perry" not "and and". Maybe Medea's more powerful than I think!

That picture of Paul Rudd...Oh. My.

So, who is missing off of this list?

Um...must have a bigger picture of Paul Rudd...Yummmmm

I think you can buy the Closer now...being from the south, her voice TOTALLY gets on my nerves, but it's a good show. Saving Grace is also good. Damages, however, RULES my TV viewing. It was awesome start to finish and I can not wait to see the next season! YAY!
Do you think Angelina will ever make another movie using her real voice and not some craptacular made up accent? The best thing about Beowulf was the dragon.
Pictures of George and Paul are appreciated, but I am saddened by the lack of picture of my fave Spartan.

Jay, I kinda think Kyra sounds like some of my southern relatives. Not all of them, but definitely a few. I know I had a wicked accent when I lived in Georgia as a kid.
