No Country for Old Men
So it's autumn and that means that all of the studios are finally releasing all of their "good" movies for the Oscar crunch. I guess the train of thought is that the closer the movies are released to nomination time, the fresher they'll be in voters' minds.
It also means that I warily eye my bank account and try to figure out which flicks I'm going to squeeze into the ol' entertainment budget.
But I can tell you that next Wednesday (and unfortunately not sooner since I do not live in a "select" city), I will be forking over dollars to see No Country for Old Men.
Indeed, it's the latest film by the Coen Brothers. It's mightily dark, like most of their films, but their trademark humor seems to be rather minimal and replaced with utter creepiness and thrills. Also, the villain is about as chilling as they get. The hair, those eyes...shudder. The rest of the cast isn't too shabby, either. Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones, Woody Harrelson, Kelly MacDonald...ohh, I can't wait! Check out the trailer:

I do live in a "select city" and OMG this movie is AWESOME. Very true to the novel.
