Amy Winehouse Arrested, Sort Of
Not news: Amy Winehouse was arrested yesterday.
OMFG NEWS: Amy Winehouse was arrested for something that had nothing to do with drugs yesterday.
Seriously, she's like the Al Capone of the heroin set.
The AFP reports:
Amid growing concern among her fans, the 24-year-old was arrested Tuesday in connection with an alleged attack on a barman by her husband Blake Fielder-Civil and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. She was held for several hours then released on police bail until March next year.
So as Mamapop's resident legal smartypants Jodi has just explained to me (we work VERY HARD AROUND HERE, PEOPLE. ALWAYS COLLABORATING AND HAVING IMPORTANT DISCUSSIONS)...while yes, Amy was arrested, she wasn't like, arrested-arrested. "It's an old British common law thing. They arrest to question, but don't charge," Jodi explains, "It's like the cops just bringing someone in here."
Basically: In order to bring her in for questioning, they had to arrest her first. She went "by appointment" too, so presumably she was able to wipe her nose up and empty out her weave first.
Hubby and all-around winner Blake has been in jail for attempting to bribe his way out of an assault charge for some time now, and will be staying there at least through Christmas.
