Mmm, Fruitcake

The lovely and talented Jodie Foster finally told us what we already knew: LESBIAN. During a speech at Entertainment Magazine's Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast, the heartwarming star of Napoleon and Samantha paid tribute to her partner of fifteen years, film producer Cydney Bernard, and asserted that, despite her power and cluefulness,

"I don't feel powerful, I feel like I haven't got a clue what I'm doing. Maybe that's the secret of my success, but you can't work in this industry for 42 years without being as nutty as a fruitcake."

And speaking of fruitcake! Amy Winehouse . . .

. . . bless her heart, is reportedly planning on a white powder Christmas, wrapped up with a week-long stint in rehab after the new year. Page Six reports that the junkie-thin 24-year-old, who's been nominated for six Grammy awards, is writing herself a blank check for a binge and then checking into a rehab facility in Israel on January 4 so that she can get straight and shine at the awards show on February 10.

One week in rehab, as everyone knows, is all you need. They sprinkle you with pixie dust, give you a funny, knowing roommate, and then you're cured! Just ask Carrie Fisher.

Winehouse may be one of the most thoughtful and soulful interpreters of modern pop alive today but she's going to end up on a slab in the morgue if she doesn't get her shit together. I wish I could make that funny somehow but it's just not.

Oh man. That whole "I'm gonna go to rehab...soon" thing is an open frakkin' ticket for a binge that more often than not ends up with DEATH. "Oh, just one more time" and all. Disaster. That poor little girl. I'm cringing.
