Adam Pascal + Backyardigans = So Much Soccer Mom Tail It's Not Even Funny
I have to admit that I've got a warm gooey center when it comes to my kid's favorite TV shows, and I get dorkily delighted whenever my grown-up interests intersect with them. (Jon Stewart on Jack's Big Music Show, They Might Be Giants on Blue's Clues, etc.)
So let me just thoroughly embarrass myself here and admit that I am SO EXCITED for the new Backyardigan's prime-time movie event, "The Tale of the Mighty Knights." It debuts this month on Nick Jr. and features Adam Pascal as the narrator and voice of Dragon, and singer of the "rock opera ballad" Not An Egg Anymore.
Adam Pascal, for those of you who have those mysterious "lives" I keep hearing about, was the original Roger in Broadway's Rent (he also played the part in the not-as-great movie). He came back to the show for a few months last year, and I SOMEHOW I DON'T KNOW DON'T YOU JUDGE ME managed to see it twice in that short time.
He's awesome. And the Backyardigans are also kind of awesome. Whatever. Fine. You can judge me on that one, but the Movers of Arabia is a damn fine song.
The Backyardigans Tale of the Mighty Knights debuts January 14 on Nick Jr. at 7 pm.
In other kids' TV news, as of January 1, the commercial-free NOGGIN network is available 24 hours. Sweet, sweet brain-atrophy goodness.

I don't even have kids and I love the Backyardigans! So yeah. Please don't judge me either.

This is why we are friends. I had not heard this and am now so excited.
We should watch it together for a playdate.! The kids would probably ignore it.

I, too, have no children and am a bit in love with the Backyardigans. I babysit a lot; that's my only defense. But really, the eps are like entertaining little musicals for the average attention span.
Also, I [heart] Adam Pascal. I'll start trying to figure out how to convince my fiance that I need to watch that movie...

Oh, and Yeah. Adam Pascal. Apparently a gigantic manwhore, but does that make him any less gorgeous? No. No it does not. Nummy.

OK, he's cute, but he's no Anthony Rapp.
And yes I know Anthony Rapp is gay but I don't care- I looove him. And I am NOT a Rent-head.

Dude...someone else watches "Jacks Big Music Show" besides my kid?! We love it so much. But now I guess we must venture out and watch Backyardigans.

JBMS is the best show on Noggin, hands down. But I do love those 'yardigans, too. This is awesome news!

When there's crap like "Yo Gabba Gabba" on for the kiddies to watch, you quickly realize that a show like "Backyardigans" is one of the best things to come along for the toddler set since no-spill sippy cups.

Oh, man. I love Adam. I neither have children nor am I a child myself, but... it's tempting. I would LOVE to have seen him in Rent on Broadway (lucky, lucky, GOSH), and... well. Okay. I admit it. I'd take a peek just to hear his voice.
