Amy Winehouse Did a Pretty Good Job at the Grammys!
Amy Winehouse did a pretty good job at the Grammys! She kept her hair on straight, she looked absolutely shocked when she won another of five awards for the evening, her happy band mobbed her, and she hugged her mom during her thank you speech. So best.
Granted, she looked a little nervous/disoriented and I am going to go ahead and give her the benefit of the doubt based on the fact that with the time change she was performing via satellite at like four in the morning London time. And there's the nerves and the ongoing struggle to stay clean, and the fact that she's probably performed those songs 100,000,000 billion times in the last year and needs to put out a new album STAT so she doesn't shoot herself from having to repeat (albeit terrific) material until she pukes her spleen up from boredom. At least she wasn't mincing around like a nervous Diana Ross discard, like she did when she took the stage with the Rolling Dustbunnies last summer.
So, keep it up, Amy! Blaaaaake will be out of jail eventually and then we'll really get to see what your spine is made of.

okay, but was i the only one who found her leg movements to be a little, errm, disconcertingly spastic?

and was I the only one that felt a little awkward about listening to her sing "Rehab" since she actually is in rehab right now? It just felt wrong...and I was uncomfortable throughout the performance.

Yeah, I feel like if she had made a joke with the lyrics or something (like 'they tried to make me go to rehab and I said...well, you know, I probably should." and then just play the song straight, I would have been a lot less uncomfortable watching her sing it. Maybe I've been watching too much Celebrity Rehab, but to me, performing that song tells me she's not serious about recovery. Save Amy, Dr. Drew!

and was/am I the only one (two, actually, hubby feels the same way) that just doesn't get WHY people love her so much?

Yay, I'm completely alone in my opinion! I guess I am hellbent on WILLING her to keep it together.
Amber, I love your comment.
DianaCLT, I think maybe if you went back in time and just heard her voice before seeing what she looked like, you might be able to ignore the hype and just like her. But I love R&B so I was already predisposed to fall for "Back in Black."

You're not alone, Mrs. Kennedy. I was very pleasantly surprised to see how together and coherent she seemed, all things considered.
In other news, I have been apparently linking myself to someone else's blog. Whoops. Maybe I need to go to rehab for my Nyquil and caffeine problems.

What was with the crotch grabbing? (Or am I the only one who caught that in my sleep induced coma?) She did do great despite the time difference, and the fact that she just got the heck out of rehab. And the look on her face when she won for the 5th time (IN YOUR FACE KANYE WEST)was truly worth any weirdness that may have ensued during her performance.
And no matter what AMY I still love you....and REHAB is my anthem for EVERYTHING no matter what!!!

I actually loved the way she ended 'Rehab.' She let her boys take the last "no no no" and just kinda threw her hands at the audience like 'What? We all get it, the irony and all.'
I was pleased she didn't pull a 'Britney' myself. Maybe with her Blake locked way, she'll get better. I saw her here in Toronto before the downward spiral, and fell in love. Hope she's on her way back!
Oh, and her dancing has always been like that. A little out there.
But I love her backup guys, they just keep going!

I love it, actually. I mean, she wrote the song tongue in cheek, right- the whole idea of the song is that she should go to rehab.
And Natalie Cole can kiss my ass.
