Bargain Basement Bossy: My Oh Maya.
Who else had a coronary when they noticed that Maya Rudolph wasn't on the first Saturday Night Live show since the writer's strike, and OhmyGah The First Saturday Night Live Show Since The Writer’s Strike—but it sort of sucked?
Nine-year cast member Rudolph has been without a contract since the beginning of this season, but remained on the show in good faith that the contract details would be hammered-out in her favor.
However she chose not to return after the Writer's Strike—and was instead replaced with Casey Wilson, from the Upright Citizen's Brigade troupe in New York City (home of Amy Poehler.)
Apparently Lorne Michaels still really wants Maya Rudolph back and is trying everything possible—which may or may not include actually offering her a favorable contract. Duh, Lorne?

I will be contrary and say I loved it! Except for the filler sketched. I would miss Maya though. Looooove her.

She's my favorite.

How about Huckabee's surprise appearance? I thought he was going to bow out of the race on SNL! Woulda crapped myself if pop culture met reality in that way.

What will we do without Bronx Beat?

I may have to quit SNL if Maya doesn't show up. By far my fav. No good, that episode. Is the entire year going to be one political skit after another? They get so old...

if they hadn't gotten Tina Fey (former head writer) to be the guest host, the show would have been completely AWFUL! it was pretty bad, but she helped a lot! you could just tell she'd spent the week in the writers room.

I thought this was honestly the best show in at least 3 years. But I do miss Maya :(

I, too, loved this episode!

Yeah, I thought this was a very good episode. I laughed at every skit but one (the milkshake one...though watching the Oscars later it all came together).
And I thought the new girl did a fine job. But I LOVE Maya.

This makes me a little angsty inside. But I still harbor grief about Chris Parnell no longer being around.

Damn! I thought 'writers' strike' and forgot to capitalize!

Well I would have been surprised to see her on Sat since her man PT was nominated for Best Director. I do love her but no one person does make this show work.
