How to Look Good Naked

I never expected to like this.

I have long said that the only good things on Lifetime are movies.  Women Are Bad movies, Men Are Worse movies, and Keep Your Vagina Indoors movies - these are the only reasons to watch Lifetime, and even then, one should only do this with tongue firmly in cheek.  My husband has sat through many Lifetime movie marathons on Sundays when I've been feeling particularly snarky and MST3K-y, but he always acts like this is a tremendous favor to me.

So I was really surprised when said husband wanted to watch How to Look Good Naked on On Demand a few weeks ago.  I felt certain it was going to be completely cheesy and that it would make me feel completely awful about myself.  I imagined some host, probably some dude, telling chunky ladies like me which body parts they ought to keep hidden away from view, lest they offend onlookers.  I resisted mightily, but then, remembering how many Lifetime hours the husband had put in, I acquiesced.

And I LOVE it.  This show is fantastic.  It's all about loving your body as it actually is, and about confronting the ways in which you are brutal to yourself - Carson Kressley has the subjects sit and watch video of other people commenting favorably on their pictures.  Then he takes them shopping (I want to shop with Carson!), takes them to the salon, and then takes them to a photo shoot, where they are photographed nude (and very often hugged by Carson while nude, which is completely adorable every single time).

If you're not watching this because it's on Lifetime, or because you can't stand weight loss shows, set all that aside and turn it on.  It's not about weight loss, but about body love, and nothing that happens will make you sleep with all the lights on or start tapping your partner's cell phone.

I've been wanting to check this out but was scared that it was going to be completely off-base and upsetting. it's amazing that there could actually be something of value on Lifetime.

I was stunned that I liked it too!

I've been watching the UK version for awhile and I love it!

It is a really cute, encouraging, inspiring show.

I love, love, love this show. Women are so mean to themselves and constantly beat themselves up for the silliest of things. Carson is going to have a hard time getting to us all, but watching this is a good start to finding the good in us all.

Watching this clip lead me over to their website where you can watch full episodes. I'm a convert. I loved him on Queer Eye too. I want him to come to my house and fix me!

I've been watching it ever since I got the free pilot on iTunes. It's a good show and all about living yourself!!
