Because the success of FunnyOrDie.com has wholly depended upon "The Landlord," l say let's milk it for all it's worth while we cross-promote the crap out of Will Farrell's sports comedy project #3,998,078.

Honestly? I loved Talladga Nights -- I can quote it in 33 languages, including Aramaic -- but seriously, Will, that soccer movie was kind of a mistake, and that ice skating thing was pretty dumb, too. And now it's come down to "Semi-Pro." I know the A.B.A. is ripe for parody, with the afros and the tube socks and the cute little shorts, but if ever the world of sports comedy needed another Slap Shot, NOW IS THAT TIME.

Fortunately, Newsday reports that Ferrell's giving the sports films a rest after this.

" 'Semi-Pro' and 'Blades of Glory' were circling each other at the same time, and I remember thinking, oh, great ... I know this is setting me up for 200 questions of, 'Do you only make sports comedies now?' or, 'What's the next sports movie?' " he said, wearing an ABA pullover and less hair than in the film.

"I was like, well, it timed out and I loved the movie and script, so I thought, oh, screw it, I'll bite the bullet."

The good news may be that Ferrell's next seventies retread is an adaptation of the old kids' soap opera, "Land of the Lost." Dinosaurs! Sleestaks! Sid and Marty Krofft!

You know, I have no interest in seeing Semi-Pro but I will stop dead in my tracks to watch that Old Spice deoderant commercial tie in. It's hilarious.

I loved Will on SNL, but I have to say he's made some pretty sucky movies (excluding Old School).
