Carly Smithson Pregnant?

I know, it's like totally gossip rag stock-in-trade to post a picture of a celeb or semi-celeb or whomever in a loose-fitting outfit or with a hint of pooch and shout OMG SHE'S PREGNANT but still. If the tent-dress fits...

So Carly Smithson - that chick who is SO being set up to win American Idol - was looking a bit billowy the other day and got people to talking: is she? could she be? what if? SHE'S PREGNANT. Which, you know, is some pretty good gossip, especially on a slow week when it's all about facking Heather Mills, AGAIN.

Anyhoo. Carly's denied it, of course. Said something about Spanx and bloating and bad wardrobe and whatever (which, Spanx? aren't they supposed to HIDE pregnancies?) But like that makes a difference. OF COURSE she'd deny it. It'll be denied until she's crowned winner and then it'll all be oooooh! Look! IDOL HAS BABY! How'd DAT happen?

And then she'll sell about as many records as did Ruben Studdard and we'll all go back to worrying about when Miley Cyrus is going to get knocked up. Which, you know, would be real news.
