Halle Names Her Baby
Introducing... Nahla Ariela Aubry!
As celebrity baby names go, it's pretty straightforward. 'Nahla', apparently, means 'drink of water' in Arabic, which is a little more poetic that 'Pilot Inspektor,' which means 'My Dad Watched Too Many Cartoons In The Seventies' in American English, or 'Moxie Crimefighter,' which means exactly the same thing, but in Canadian.
(Some have speculated that 'NAHLA' might be an acronym for something, but I seriously doubt if Halle has heard of the North American Hooters Liberation Association. Or is that the North Atlantic Hooters Limitation Agreement? I can can never keep them straight.)
What surprises me, actually, is that she gave her daughter Gabriel Aubry's last name. I mean, I know that he's the baby-daddy and that they're a couple and they're 'redefining marriage' and all, blah, blah, blah, but I have to admit - I've sort of tended to fall on the side of those who insist that he probably wasn't much more than a really pretty sperm donor. I mean - look at him. He's about as metrosexual as they come, which, okay, is probably normal for male models, but doesn't Halle tend to go more for those rocker-jock types? My theory was, she got spooked by all that testosterone (didn't one of her ex-husband's hit her or something?) and swore off men altogether and grabbed the first pretty boy she could find and bought him a car so that he'd give her a baby. Then, I figured, she'd send him packing, maybe with another car and some Vuitton luggage to make the trip a little easier.
I suppose that I might have been wrong. Unlikely, but not impossible.

I really like that name. So pretty.

I like Halle Berry and am happy for her. That said, did anyone but me think the baby's name had a bit of a Disney sound to it? (Lion King meets Little Mermaid)
