Heath Ledger's Will Revealed

Heath_ledger In another lesson to keep your will up to date, Heath Ledger wrote a will leaving everything he owned to his parents and sister.  The will was written in April 2003, prior to his relationship with Michelle Williams and the birth of their daughter, Matilda.

A series of documents filed in Manhattan Surrogate's Court revealed that the actor had less than $145,000 in New York assets at the time, including a $25,000 Toyota Prius and $20,000 in furniture and fixtures. His greater wealth, including trust funds, Australian properties and the Brooklyn townhouse he once shared with Williams, is uncertain.

It's unclear whether there will be any provisions for Michelle Williams or Matilda Rose, now 2. The bulk of Ledger's estate will be handled in Australia.  The actor's lawyer has asked a judge to seal the documents for privacy.

Michelle could challenge the will on behalf of Matilda, although I am not entirely familiar with Australian trusts and estates law.  (What kind of legal expert do I think I am?  Team MamaPop, fire me!)  My guess, she won't need to do so.  It looks like she has a decent relationship with his family and they will provide for Matilda.  "Matilda is our absolute priority and Michelle is an integral part of our family," Heath's father Kim Ledger says in a statement. "They will be taken care of and that's how Heath would want it to be."

Ledger's rep also quickly squashed any speculation that Williams and 2-year-old Matilda would not be provided for. "The story is getting taken out of context and media is speculating that this means Matilda and Michelle will not be taken care of. I want to make it very clear nothing could be farther from the truth."

Why would Michelle need taken care of? She's a talented actress in her own right, and they weren't together when he died. I'm sure they'll be fine. The media's just trying to make bank with this sensationalized story.

His family apparently released a statement to effect of "Matilda will be taken care of, and Michelle is a dear part of our family."

But yes JP, I totally agree with you- this is sensationalism plain and simple.
