Inquest Ordered into the Death of Corinne Bailey Rae's Husband
A coroner opened the official inquest into the death of Jason Rae, the husband of Corinne Bailey Rae,
on Thursday. The pathologist concluded the cause of death was a drug overdose, although results of a post mortem performed were inconclusive.
A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police told PEOPLE there was no set time-frame for the probe. Police are also awaiting the results of a toxicology report
A coroner inquest is one of the pieces of British common law that didn't exactly makes its way over the pond, as they say. The web page of the London Borough of Croydon explains an inquest quite thoroughly, but basically it is an inquiry into the manner in which someone died. It is not a trial, but witnesses can be called by both the coroner's office and "interested parties" such as those who have an emotional or financial interest in the death.
Can you imagine if these happened here? Oy vey, Court TV would have a field day!

Does that mean that Corinne will likely be called as a witness? Poor thing, I can't imagine having to go through that after losing my husband.

chatty cricket-I'm actually not sure about who the witnesses would be or even who calls them. But yes, that would be terrible if she needed to testify.
