"The Internet is my BFF" Friday
Sweetney's post about hulu yesterday reminded me that there's some other stuff online you need to know and love. That Internet! I just want to give it a hug sometimes.
First on the list: Muxtape, "a simple way to create and share mixtapes." Remember mix tapes? Those musical love notes you made to impress your friends that always melted in their glove compartments? Yeah, whatever, now you make CDs, or have those fancy iThoughts beamed directly into your auditory cortex, BUT STILL.
Each colored box on the index page links to a user's twelve-song playlist, which means it's kind of a crapshoot. But I found something I liked on every playlist I clicked on, it was easy to set up my account, and as a social network it couldn't more low-maintenance. Noah Kalina, who created the site along with Justin Ouellette, says, "My goal is nothing short of changing the way we consume, distribute, and discover music." Okay, then! Let's go help do that!
After the jump, another music sharing site out of the U.K. and a home movie! Merlin Mann manipulates his beloved infant to amuse not just himself but the entire Internet. It's a rite of modern parenthood.
Before we get to the baby fun, the other music sharing site I like is iMeem. It's a nice complement to Muxtape for a couple of reasons. One, you don't have to own a song to add it to your playlist, you can just borrow it from someone else on the site, and two, your account generates code for you to embed a music player right on your blog and impose your musical taste on your readers. (Here's an example of one in action, check her sidebar. Hi, Antonia!) I am currently rearranging my template in order to force you to listen to Prince's Lovesexy every time you come to my site. AND YOU WILL LIKE IT.
Okay, as your reward for putting up with all that -- introducing Eleanor Mann, who will now discuss her plans for world domination from her exersaucer.

I feel like an old lady because I can't figure out Muxtape. It's like it's too easy. Gah.
