Spitzer's Hooker: Future American Idol?
So, as the entire world knows by now, NY Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned his post yesterday over the controversy ensuing from his dalliance with a twenty-two year old hooker (pseudo-)named 'Kristen.' As most of the world knows, too - or at least, that part of it that obsessively Googles 'spitzer hooker' (say that ten times fast) - Spitzer's young and high-priced friend is actually one Ashley Alexandra Dupre, a 22 year old native of New Jersey who has an active MySpace page and a budding musical career.
Which, you know, makes the story all the more sad and all the more unfortunately cliched: ambitious girl leaves home (she's saying it was a 'broken' and 'abusive' home, but her mom tells a slightly different story) to pursue fame and fortune as a pop star and ends up the concubine of a powerful politician. Didn't Jackie Collins already write this story? (Not that I would have any first-hand knowledge of that. *cough*) Whatever: SAD.
So, you know, couldn't we all work towards giving this story a happy (no pun intended) ending? Start a campaign to get this girl on the AI audition circuit? Someone needs to get her in front of Randy and Paula and Simon. If stripping isn't a barrier to getting on the AI stage, why should a past as a high-priced call girl be any different?
I smell big ratings. Somebody needs to get on this.
You can listen to clips of her songs - tracks like (I shit you not) Move Ya Body - HERE. She's no Britney, but since when has that ever stopped anybody? (Heidi Montag, I'm lookin' at YOU)

Am I the only one who initially thought the name on her MySpace page sounds more like a hooker name than her hooker name?

An idol. Really? What a fantasy! If you're curious about a call girl's life you can read my blog. One thing that concerns me about this life is a fear of being 'outed,' the way "Kristen" has been. Most escorts advertising on the Internet are more likely to be outed by their own clients (the ones who write reviews of their experiences with prostitutes on local message boards and blogs). For most of us, not linked with some powerful/celebrity figure, that is bad news. Family, friends, and co-workers discovering I'm an escort would be devastating.
