Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys Figure Into R. Kelly Child Pornography Trial
R. Kelly's child pornography trial is scheduled to begin May 9th (on my birthday!) in Chicago, a mere 6 years after his arrest. In the meantime, he has become a platinum recording artist and made millions of dollars. That's justice, right?
"R. Kelly is looking forward to his day in court and he is confident that when all the evidence comes out, he will be shown not to have committed any crime," said Kelly spokesman Allan Mayer, who will fly in from New York to help manage the expected media circus.
His attorneys have argued both that he is not the man in the video and it's not the girl the prosecutors think it is. They have also said the girl is over 18. The prosecutors plan to call many witnesses who know the girl, both to identify her in the video and to identify her age. They have also subpoenaed experts to time stamp ads heard on the radio in the background, as well as, get this, songs by The Spice Girls and The Backstreet Boys. It is unclear if she will testify herself, and if it will be for the prosecution or for the defense.
Kelly has been sued previously by two women who claim he had sex with them while they were underage. He was also married to the singer Aaliyah D. Haughton when she was 15. Someone seems to have a preference for underage girls.

"R. Kelly is looking forward to his day in court and he is confident that when all the evidence comes out, he will be shown not to have committed any crime," - a nasty, dirty old perv into underage girls, but not a criminal, apparently. Sooooo much better. SNORT.
