Woody Allen Suing Clothing Company
Woody Allen filed a $10 million lawsuit against American Apparel on Monday for using his image without permission. The offending image is of Woody dressed up as a Hasidic rabbi taken from the movie Annie Hall. The image has been used in billboards in New York and California and on the Internet.
Woody as a Rabbi has nothing whatsoever to do with the clothing line but that is neither here nor there. Then again, their ads are normally barely dressed models, which also has nothing to do with the clothing line.
Woody said in the suit he was neither contacted by the company, nor compensated for the use of his image. "Allen does not engage in the commercial endorsement of products or services in the United States," according to the lawsuit. He calls the use of his image "especially egregious and damaging."

I hate that company. Their sizes are totally weird, their ads are creepy, and the owner? GROSS.

Baltimoregal-I saw when I was researching this post that he had been sued a million times for sexual harassment. He seems like a real stand up guy.

I loved their no-sweatshop stand back in the day, but yeah. The CEO is so beyond disgusting I will never, ever shop there. I'd sooner buy a Girls Gone Wild DVD.

What the hell? Why on god's green earth would they use an image from a movie that was made before most of their demographic was even born to sell their boring clothes? Unless they were hoping this would happen and someone would notice their brand again.
