#1 Movie Moms
I hope all of you who identify yourselves as maternal types had a lovely Mother's Day yesterday. Let's take a moment to consider our cinematic sisters, shall we?
greencine.com published its list of Best (and Worst) Movie Moms the other day. It includes nods to Dianne Weist in Edward Scissorhands and Shelley Duvall in The Shining. Time also has a similar list that's a little more comprehensive.
One glaring omission from both of these lists is Dawn Davenport from John Waters' Female Trouble. Dawn started life as the world's worst daughter, flipping out on her parents when they don't give her cha-cha heels for Christmas. Her roadside tryst with some random guy results in her daughter Taffy. When Dawn isn't neglecting Taffy, she abuses her and allows her disgusting boyfriends to do the same.
Can you think of any other omissions? Let's hear 'em.

kdiddy, i am incredibly impressed with the Female Trouble reference. I LOVE John Waters, but I can't say I'd comfortably watch any of those movies with my "adult," acquired after college friends =)

Ooh, Divine! Now I feel some shame.
Thanks for the shout, KDiddy.
