Ellen & Portia Will Get Married
What else is there to say except...yay!
(Well, I'm sure SOME PEOPLE have other things to say, but if you are one of those people...eh, move along. Perhaps get started on that Marriage Bomb Shelter now that your own heterosexual marriage is clearly under attack and very much threatened. Hurry! Better stock up on canned goods!)
On Friday, Ellen announced on-air that she and girlfriend Portia de Rossi plan to get married now that California's Supreme Court ruled that people have a fundamental "right
to marry" the partner of their choosing – and ruled that the previous ban on
gay marriage was unconstitutional. They've been together since 2004.
Congratulations, you crazy kids.

I was sitting in a hotel bar when the news about teh marriage ban overturn scrolled across the bottom of the screen last week, with my manager who is a lesbian. She was on the phone and not paying attention at the time and I started tugging on her sleeve. We both teared up and had goose bumps. She and her partner are going to Hawaii next year to get married and there's been a lot of talk about how ridiculous it is that they can't get married here in AZ.
I can not explain how happy I am about this.

My wife (in Canada, Massachusetts, and now in California) and I tuned in to Ellen's show on Friday, just so we could see her announcement. Portia was in the audience, looking like she'd been crying and laughing.
I remain cautiously optimistic that this will stand in California, especially when someone like Ellen makes everyone aware of how it affects her. I mean, who is more non-threatening than Ellen, right?

Hey, it's about time same sex couples deal with the smell and the mess that is marriage. I wouldn't trade my spouse for the world but marriage can be a tough gig. So, here, here for those in Cali about to say their I Do's. I congratulate them all! It would be interesting to see in about 8 years what the divorce rate is between hetero and same sex couples. About the same?

I love the story, the pic and most especially, Amalah's parenthetical directions to those who take issue with gay marriage. Awesome.

The two of them make me so weepy! They are so adorable and so clearly In Love. I am glad celebs are jumping on the marriage in California thing (George Takai and his long-time partner are also going to be married). It shows people how non-threatening and joyous marriage is, regardless of gender.

That was a very sweet little video. And see Portia in the audience made it even sweeter.
Like Jodifer said, love is good!
