Insert 24 Joke Here: Kiefer Sutherland Divorce Finally Finalized

Instead of 24 hours, it took almost 10 years.

Four years after filing for divorce and nine years after separating, Kiefer Sutherland is finally divorced from Elizabeth Sutherland.  Kiefer filed for divorce in 2004, citing irreconcilable differences.  The couple had no children together, although he is still supposedly close to his step-kids, her kids from a previous marriage. 

Kiefer once said the divorce was because "I got more involved in my life than ours."

What's so odd is the were really only together for three years.  They married in 1996, and separated in 1999.  They were separated for a longer period of time then they were married.  And the divorce was not finalized until Friday.  And no explanation was given for what took so long.

He had another brief marriage from 1988-90 to actress Camelia Kath.  And we all remember the ill-fated Julia Roberts engagement.

No information in regards to spousal support or settlement or prenuptial agreements were released.  His ex-wife is dropping Sutherland as her last name.    You can view the documents here.
