Nobody Puts Baby on the Inside Flap: 14 Years of Vanity Fair's Hollywood Covers
The folks at ohnotheydidnt put together a nice retrospective of Annie Leibowitz's cover photos for Vanity Fair's annual Hollywood issue. 14 years, 14 photos, nine of which banish anyone of color to the fair-right fold-out flaps, while the actual magazine cover features nothing but the gleaming white folks. Only four covers actually feature a black or Latino actor. (Sorry, Asians. Better luck next year!) Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicole Kidman each made it onto two covers.
So who tells who where to stand? Annie? Vanity Fair? Or you know, Hollywood?
